Gym Rules

Forbidden Jitsu

Due to safety concerns,  we do not permit techniques with uncontrolled falling body weight while sparring. Our list of prohibited techniques includes:

  • jumping guard,
  • flying submissions,
  • slamming,
  • flying leg scissors (kani basami),
  • sitting on your partner's leg (tani otoshi/valley drop),
  • mat returns with a trapped arm, and
  • high footsweeps (leg kick).

Open Mat

Our open mat is open to non-members and is for  experienced grapplers only.  Attending open mat does not require a booking, only a participation waiver. Do not try to use our open mat as space to teach your own classes or private lessons—you will be asked to leave.
